How Diff Master compares PDF files
When you compare two PDFs, Diff Master answers two different questions: Text differences compares extractable wording, while Visual differences compares rendered page appearance.
- Choose Text differences for wording or Visual differences for layout, font and image changes.
- Select the original and changed PDF. Each file can be up to 50 MB and 150 pages.
- Run the local comparison, then review every changed, added or removed page.

Renders corresponding pages in this browser and compares their pixels.
Page alignment
Matches pages by page number; a page present on only one side is added or removed.

Expected result: Text mode marks the amount as modified. Visual mode also reveals any movement, font or image change on the rendered page.

Can I compare two PDFs without Acrobat?
Yes. If you normally use Acrobat to compare PDFs, select the original and changed files here instead. Diff Master compares extractable text or rendered pages locally in your browser, without an Acrobat license, installation, upload or saved copy.
Are my PDF files uploaded or stored?
No. Diff Master reads, renders and compares the selected PDFs in this browser tab. The files, extracted text, rendered pages and results are not uploaded to or stored by Diff Master.
Can I compare PDFs with different page counts?
Yes. Pages are aligned by page number. A page that exists on only one side is reported as added or removed, and you can move through every changed page from the result toolbar.
What happens with scanned PDFs?
A scanned page may not expose text, so Text differences can report that page as unavailable. Use Visual differences to compare the rendered page appearance instead.
What PDF limits should I know about?
Each selected PDF can be up to 50 MB and 150 pages in the current version. Large or image-heavy documents can take longer and use more browser memory because processing stays on your device.
