How Diff Master handles your comparison data
Diff Master is designed for local comparison. Your comparison stays in your browser so you can review changes without an account or a saved comparison history.
Comparisons run locally in your browser.
Files and comparison content are not uploaded or stored by Diff Master.
The Chrome extension does not read the websites you visit.
Use the core tools offline after the required app files have loaded.
Comparison data stays on your device
Diff Master processes the files and text you compare in your browser. Comparison content, file names, workbook and worksheet names, headers, automatically detected identifiers, cell values, formulas, extracted text, rendered pages and results are not sent to Diff Master for comparison.
Spreadsheet parsing and reports stay local
Excel and CSV files are read and compared in a dedicated browser Worker. Workbook bytes, worksheet data, automatically detected identifiers and difference results remain in the current tab’s memory. CSV change reports are generated from the selected result in your browser and are not saved by Diff Master.
No comparison history
We do not provide accounts, saved comparisons or cloud history. Replacing or clearing an input, refreshing the page or closing the tab ends that local comparison session. Diff Master does not put spreadsheet content in LocalStorage, SessionStorage, IndexedDB or Cache API.
The Chrome extension keeps the same local boundary
When you use the Diff Master Chrome extension, files and text are processed inside its Side Panel with packaged app code and workers. The extension does not use content scripts, read the pages you visit, collect browsing history, upload comparison content, save comparison sessions or run analytics. Links to the Diff Master website open only after you choose them.
Offline use has a clear boundary
Your browser needs a network connection the first time it loads the current app files. After the required app files have loaded and been cached on that browser, you can use the core comparison tools offline. Clearing site data, a new app version or disabled browser storage can require another online load.
No sign-up for comparison
You can use Diff Master without creating an account. We do not ask you to register before you compare PDF, Excel, CSV, text, code, JSON or Markdown content.
Website analytics is separate from comparison data
Diff Master uses Google Analytics 4, Plausible Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics on public pages to understand visits, site use and page performance. These services may receive the page URL, referral information, browser and device information, approximate location and engagement or performance measurements. Diff Master does not add comparison inputs, file names, workbook or worksheet names, headers, automatically detected identifiers, cell values, formulas, extracted text, rendered pages or diff results to analytics events.
Analytics identifiers and controls
Google Analytics may use cookies or similar browser identifiers, depending on your browser, region, consent choices and settings. Plausible pageview measurements are sent to plausible.shipsolo.io, while Cloudflare Web Analytics measures page performance. You can limit analytics through browser privacy controls, content blockers or the providers’ available opt-out controls. Analytics cannot load while the site is being used offline.
Support email is separate from comparison
If you email support, that message is sent through your email provider and is not part of the local comparison process. Please do not send the files, text, passwords, API keys or other sensitive content you are comparing.
